Molecular Biology Lab Technician Position Available
Scarab Genomics, LLC is a research-oriented genomics company developing reduced genome E. coli strains and other innovative tools and products for vaccine producers. The company’s current product offering also includes Vaccine Carrier Proteins CRM197 and Protein D, as well as the C-FLOW™ fermentation platform. The company is headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin.
Purpose of the Position:
To execute Scarab’s research involving molecular biology and microbial fermentation tasks.
Essential Functions:
- Execute assigned assay testing activities following Scarab standard operating procedures.
- Analyze data, document, and evaluate results, troubleshoot.
- Work closely and coordinate activities with team members in a collaborative environment.
- Perform routine laboratory support tasks, such as lab organization, clean-up, equipment maintenance, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned or as needed.
- Adjust work schedule to meet time-sensitive project milestones.
Education and Experience:
- BS/MS in microbial, molecular biology, or biochemical sciences from an accredited institution.
- Associate degree in a laboratory science from an accredited institution with significant relevant academic or industry experience will also be considered.
- 1-3 years of related hands-on laboratory experience with molecular biology and fermentation techniques in university, or industry settings is preferred. This includes but not limited to basic bacterial culture skills, molecular cloning, nucleic acid isolation, gel electrophoresis, PCR, genomic sequencing, chromatography, and microbial fermentation techniques, etc.
- Experience in using laboratory automation and associated programming is a plus.

Work entails regularly performing tasks while working at a computer, desk, laboratory bench or automated machine. Work in laboratory or operational areas containing biohazardous materials. Work entails occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
